Society to host local author

The Elk Rapids Area Historical Society will present a “bonus program” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 at the Elk Rapids History Museum, 301 Traverse St. Author Norm Veliquette will discuss his recent book, “45 in the PITS! – A Half Century In Processing Cherries.” Corky Crimmins will moderate. Selected passages will highlight ups and downs of Veliquette’s life and the cherry industry. Veliquette will sign books (available for purchase) at the free event.
