Sieting responds that expanding village’s police is ‘hypothetical’
KALKASKA – The president of the Village of Kalkaska said expanding the Kalkaska Department of Public Safety to provide “24-7” coverage is “hypothetical” and not something village officials are set to do any time soon.
Sieting made the comment at the Kalkaska Village Council’s regular meeting Monday, Oct. 9, while responding to questions from a member of Kalkaska For Peace, a group that has targeted Sieting, including promoting a recall of the village president, for offensive and, what some consider, anti-Islamic comments posted on his personal Facebook page.
One of the group’s members asked Sieting why the village would be expanding the KDPS, when it was faced with other financial difficulties.
“The exercise has always been completely hypothetical,” Sieting said. “You always have to take into consideration for that.”
