During his annual report to the Antrim County Board of Commissioners last week, Sheriff Dan Bean told the board that handgun sales are "way up" in Antrim County, with 461 more purchase permits applied for during 2016 than in 2015. "Everybody's buying guns," he said.

BELLAIRE – Handgun purchases, Internet scams, along with larcenies and burglaries – often directly connected to ongoing drug abuse – were way up during the past year, Sheriff Dan Bean told the Antrim County Board of Commissioners last Thursday, June 8 during his annual report to the board.

“Everybody’s buying guns,” Bean told Commissioners. “I don’t know why, but everybody’s buying guns.”

A total of 1,103 purchase permits were issued in 2016 compared to 642 in 2015, while 1,075 pistol sales records listed on Concealed Pistol License applications were recorded, Bean said, an increase of 475 from 2015.
