Saxton returns to coach Kalkaska wrestling program
KALKASKA — It’s been more than a decade since Mitch Saxton coached the Kalkaska wrestling program.
But after stepping away from the position in 2010 to focus on starting a family, Saxton is back for the Blazers, leading them on the mats once again.
“My family is grown and older now, and I’m not needed quite as much at home as I was, so I applied,” said Saxton, who had his first practice since resuming his head coaching duties on Monday.
Saxton takes over for Mike Woodruff, who stepped down after three seasons as the program’s head coach.
“I’m thrilled,” said Saxton. “I’m very excited to be back and involved.”
