Recount of District 6 Commissioners election to be held

BELLAIRE — A recount of the District 6 Commissioner's election has been scheduled for Friday, Sept. 4.

The recount, to be conducted by the Antrim County Board of Canvassers under the supervision of Antrim County Clerk Sheryl Guy, will review the number of votes cast for incumbent District 6 Commissioner Brenda Ricksgers and challenger Gary Lockwood in the Tuesday, Aug. 4 primary election. 

In that election, Ricksgers, won another two years in office by just seven votes, taking a total of 376 votes over Lockwood's 369 votes. 

Lockwood filed for the recount right after the election, according to Guy.
