Record voter participation in May special election

ANTRIM COUNTY - Antrim County's May 5 special school election in six of the county's northernmost townships, which was conducted primarily by mail, drew very high, and in some townships, record voter participation.
The high numbers of voters came as a surprise to most township clerks, who coordinate all elections in their precincts, in light of the single school ballot proposal in most townships, with just one township seeing one additional school ballot proposal.
