NTF board selects locally designed logo for 2018 festival
KALKASKA – The National Trout Festival board considered more than 30 logo submissions to represent this year’s 82nd annual celebration.
Earlier this year the festival requested graphically designed logos to exemplify the 2018 theme, “Life is Good, Fishing Makes it Better.” The honor was awarded to local business owner Ashley Miller.
“The board saw all entries and each person chose their top three,” said NTF board volunteer Debbie Ball-Odeh. “We ended with a tie, so at the next meeting we ranked them.”
“All four finalists happened to be from Kalkaska, too!” she added.
According to Ball-Odeh, the board selected Miller’s design because of its colors, the overall design and how she used the theme.
“(Miller’s) design was the clear preference,” Ball-Odeh said.
Miller has lived in Kalkaska for 15 years and is the owner of Las Vegas Tanning Salon. This is the first year she has submitted a logo for the National Trout Festival and is self-taught in graphic design.
