No village money supports township services

To the  Editor:

First of all, thank you for allowing me the privilege of commenting on the August 13, 2020, article by Dennis Mansfield regarding the change of Kalkaska’s Village government from a general law village to a city. Among the advantages listed were “Elimination of dual taxes with Kalakska Township; Elimination of expenses related to supporting two governments; Allow officials to spend tax revenue on city specific projects rather than also supporting township initiatives.” The village currently levies summer tax of 14.6140 mils for operations and streets.
