Mancelona prepares to welcome marijuana businesses

MANCELONA — When Michigan's voters legalized the use and sales of medical marijuana in 2008 and, 10 years later, the use and sales of recreational marijuana, communities all over the state scrambled to put rules into effect regulating legal marijuana activities. 

In Antrim County, most townships and municipalities have moved to institute rules preventing the production and sales of legal marijuana in their communities, but both Mancelona Township and the Village of Mancelona are preparing, carefully, to welcome it. 

"It's a plus for our township," said Mancelona Township Supervisor Chuck Johnson earlier this week. "It's here and it's legal, and it will bring much needed business to the community."
