Local organizations work to support those battling breast cancer
REGION – The impact of women’s health activism on individual lives is on full display during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Survivors celebrate their status by wearing pink, participating in public events that will carry the momentum forward.
While the public celebration is important in its own way, for those facing a first-time diagnosis of breast cancer, information and support is what all the publicity is really about. Fortunately, local residents are in an enviable position.
Both the Antrim County High Tea for Breast Cancer Prevention (ACHTBCP) and the Breast Cancer Survivor Navigator Program at Munson Medical Center provide many forms of support that are available throughout the year. According to two local women who needed those services at one time, volunteers from those organizations made the ordeal more bearable.
