Little Old Women - A summary of summer … so far

Donna Sears

Acorns are pinging on skylights, the morning glories have stopped blooming, and ads for back-to-school items are as thick as Grandma’s pea soup. I’m not sorry to be on the outside of the classroom door. I loved my job, but do not long to read and correct even one more “What-I-Did-Last-Summer” paper. I think I will write one of my own instead.
Well, scratch that idea … a vacation from WHAT?  I’ve been retired from my teacher/librarian employment for 30-plus years, and putting 750 words together once a month for this column hardly qualifies as employment. This “job” is my vacation from my routine life.
When I write I go off into some other place where hours seem like minutes and time stands still.
