Lancers have tools for big season

ELLSWORTH — Everything is in place this year for the Ellsworth baseball team.

The Lancers, the two-time defending Northern Lakes Conference champions, return all but two starters from a year ago and have the experience that has been about the only thinking lacking in the program as they bring high expectations into the season.

“I think this year we can be competitive with just about anybody we play,” said Ellsworth coach Frank Hersha. “I wasn’t able to say that I the past. I would obviously like to win the league again. That would be three in a row. But I honestly think we have a legitimate shot, at least, to be competitive in the district.”
