Lancers cruise past Loggers in pre-district

ELLSWORTH — The start of the postseason looked similar to what transpired during the regular season as far as the Ellsworth baseball team is concerned.

The Lancers, who emerged as the top team in the Northern Lakes Conference in a championship season, opened the state tournament with a convincing victory that was reminiscent of how they performed this year.

Ellsworth scored early and often on Tuesday in burying Boyne Falls 18-3 in a game that ended in the fourth inning due to the mercy rule.
