Lady Ironmen geared up for successful softball campaign
MANCELONA — It doesn’t take much to figure out what’s motivating the Mancelona softball team.
The Lady Ironmen have won more than 30 games over the past two seasons, but all that success has not resulted in a district or Ski Valley Conference title.
Those shortcomings have fueled Mancelona’s push this season, where it will look to unseat recent Ski Valley frontrunners Inland Lakes and Onaway and possibly look to avenge two straight losses to eventual district champion Boyne City and claim a district crown of its own.
“They’re pushing harder than they’ve ever pushed,” said Mancelona coach Terry Schram. “They’re actually pushing me. They want to sweat. They want the hard work. They want to go out with a winning season.”
