KALKASKA – The regular meeting of the Kalkaska Village Council on Monday, Oct. 23, was a short one. In fact, it actually never happened.

President pro-tem Damien White told the audience who had gathered at the Kalkaska Village Offices on Hyde Street for the meeting, which was slated to start at 6 p.m., he appreciated their coming out on a rainy evening but that there would not be a meeting due to a lack of a quorum.

Village President Jeff Sieting, along with trustees Diana Needham, Kathy Sanborn and Denise Kelly, were all absent. That left only three voting members – White, Penny Dupuie and Tim Ellis.

The lack of a quorum delayed board action on three agenda items that will change the village’s purchasing and ethics policy.
