KPS cancels classes due to potential threat
KALKASKA — Students attending Kalkaska Public Schools got an unexpected day off on Friday, a day after school and law enforcement officials received information related to a potential safety threat at Kalkaska High School.
All after-school events were canceled on Thursday with KPS officials later announcing classes would also be canceled for the following day. Events, such as sports, were held as scheduled Friday night and over the weekend, though with increased security and scrutiny.
“Safety is our top priority,” school officials posted on the district’s Facebook page. “We are continuing to work with law enforcement to resolve this matter.”
