KPS board votes to reinstate Starr

KALKASKA — After nearly a year away from his office at the Kalkaska Public Schools’ Central Office, Terry Starr will soon be going back to work.

That after the KPS Board of Education voted, 6-1, to reinstate Starr as superintendent during the board’s regular monthly meeting Monday, April 20. School board member Mary Scobey cast the lone dissenting vote.

Starr, who was hired as the district’s superintendent starting July 2018, had been on indefinite suspension after he was first arrested and arraigned on various felony charges, which were later reduced to misdemeanors and the case sent back to district court, in mid-April 2019.
