Keeping the gap in volunteer services filled

Tina Sundelius - Ellsworth

Lions International has chosen to no longer recognize Lioness Clubs, folding them into Lions International in some communities. As a result, the Lioness Clubs in Central Lake and Ellsworth no longer exist, and the services provided by these clubs will be missed.

Consequently, the Ellsworth Lionesses have voted not to resign themselves to forfeiting the many charitable programs they have supported over the years but to charter a new service club. The Upper Chain of Lakes Area Women’s Club has already received 501(C)3 status and the by-laws have been drafted. The first organizational meeting is set for Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Ellsworth Community Park Pavilion and anyone interested in joining is welcome and encouraged to attend.
