Honorary luncheon canceled, Kalkaska community honored
KALKASKA — The celebratory luncheon to honor the 2020 Kalkaska Citizen and Business of the Year award winners has been canceled. Originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, the event was to feature award presentations, guest speakers, community recognition and a lunch hosted by the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation and others at the newly-renovated Mill Pond Event Center in Kalkaska.
“We’re disappointed to miss this opportunity to celebrate as a community but look forward to coming together again at a future date to recognize and honor all that makes Kalkaska great, especially the people and businesses that serve our community,” said Andi Wagenschutz, event volunteer and Community Foundation Board Director.
With the recent restrictions on public gatherings and social interactions to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation, its Kalkaska Board Directors, and a committee of Kalkaska community members, have decided to postpone this year’s celebration and defer both Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year awards to 2021.
