His House set to help men become better parents, spouses and community members
REGION – At 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 a very special event will take place when the base location for the "His House" ministries is dedicated and officially opened to the public.
Built last winter by the construction technology class at Charlevoix High School, the addition to Good Samaritan Family Services' Moms and Tots Center at 9100 Pleasant Hill Road, just east of the village of Ellsworth, was moved to the site several months ago.
Since then, a host of volunteer contractors has put finishing touches on the building, including drywall, paint, plumbing, wiring, heating, flooring and trim, which when finished will have cost the ministry in excess of $195,000, all of which has been raised through donations.
"It was a lot of work," said Stacy Nelson, director of the His House ministries."But we're down to the last of it now, with construction of the outside deck and railings, and handicapped-accessible entrance."
