High water levels continue on the chain of lakes

On April 3, I appeared before the Antrim County Buildings, Lands, and Infrastructure Committee to discuss the high water levels on the upper chain of lakes. March 20, 2011 is a crucial date. It was the last time that the Intermediate Lake level receded to the court-mandated winter height of 606.54 feet above sea level. That was seven years ago!
We’ve seen high water issues every fall and spring since that date.  I reminded the committee of the State of Michigan Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act No. 451, paragraph No. 307 on “Inland Lake Levels.”
