Health Dept. to host regular weekly vaccine clinics

REGION — With more providers such as Meijer and Rite-Aid offering vaccines, and a steadier, more reliable COVID-19 vaccine supply, regional health departments plan to begin holding regular weekly clinics in both Antrim and Kalkaska counties in the next few weeks.

"The Health Dept. of Northwest Michigan will be holding two clinics a week at the Helena Township Community Hall in Alden," said Antrim County Emergency Management Director Leslie Meyers, who is coordinating vaccine clinics in Antrim County. "One will be held on Tuesday, the other on Wednesday, with one of those clinics for people getting first-dose vaccinations, the other for people getting their second doses."

Meyers is hopeful that the regularly scheduled clinics will begin by the third week of March.

Similar first-dose vaccine clinics will be held this Friday, March 5 at all 10 health department offices for those persons 65 and over residing in the District 10 Health Department's area, which includes Kalkaska County. Registration is mandatory for anyone hoping to attend this clinic.
