Four area players earn all-state recognition from the Associated Press

REGION — When the Associated Press announced its boys basketball all-state teams for Divisions 1-4 last week four area players were among those who were listed as receiving honorable mention on the list of the top players in the state.

Mancelona sophomore Jayden Alfred and Elk Rapids sophomore Preston Ball were both honorable mention for Division 3, while Ellsworth senior Atlas Marlatt and Forest Area junior Chase Ingersoll were honorable mention in Division 4.

Marlatt, the Review boys basketball player of the year this season, is coming off a season where he averaged 17.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, three assists and 2.5 steals per game in leading the Lancers to an undefeated Northern Lakes Conference championship.
