KALKASKA – The Kalkaska Public Schools Board of Education is trying to plan for the future, even going as far as seeking assistance in developing a three- to five-year strategic plan.

At its regular meeting in August, board members were presented with options on how to develop such a plan by Debbie Stair, board development manager with the Michigan Association of School Boards. And, later at the same meeting, the board approved contracting with Stair to develop a strategic plan.

“Kalkaska Public Schools and MASB have worked together to design a customized process that ensures broad stakeholder involvement and will result in an effective strategic plan implementation,” Stair said of the project.

According to a prepared statement released by KPS officials, the purpose of planning initiative is to help district leaders develop new goals and strategies for continuing to offer an excellent education for students, while using limited resources in the most effective and efficient way.

But, Stair and others won’t just be working with KPS board members and administrators.
