Fair organizers praise this year’s events, attendance
KALKASKA - “What a great county fair!” stated fair board secretary Debbie Ball-Odeh last weekend at the conclusion of this year’s festivities.
“Activities and events – both the tried and true – along with a few new ones, were well received and attended,” she added.
“Let the Good Times Grow” was the theme for this year’s Kalkaska County Agricultural Fair, which took place Tuesday, July 24 through Saturday, July 28. The fair featured livestock shows, demolition derbies, a carnival and more.
The barns were at full capacity, Ball-Odeh said, and the two demolition derbies drew large crowds
She also said more than 20 “Best of Show” ribbons were awarded in the exhibit hall.
“We are so lucky to have stellar sponsors and faithful volunteers that enable us to host this community event every summer and we thank each one of them,” Ball-Odeh added.
Two competitions brought extra traffic to the exhibit hall, the “Cute Baby Contest” and the inaugural “Homemaker of the Year” Contest. Neveah S. won the Cute Baby Contest. She is the daughter of Heather Payne and Michael Smith. The title of “Homemaker of the Year” went to Tiffany Jones.
