Eloise Reim

Eloise Reim, 101, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2020 at the Heritage Haus, Bellaire, where she was a resident.  She was born in Goshen, Ind. on Dec. 1, 1918, to the late Ray and Reaka Burkholder.

Eloise graduated from Goshen High School in 1936.  Following graduation, she worked for five years in the office of Snuggle Products and four years in the insurance department at a local bank.  During that time she met her future husband Ralph Raymond Reim at a motorcycle event.  They were married July 1, 1939, a marriage that lasted for 79 years until Ray’s death in 2018. During that time she enjoyed bowling and was involved in many activities at the First United Methodist Church where she was a member.  Eventually, she became a home mom and raised three children.

When her husband retired they moved to Fort Myers, Fla. and lived there for 30 years.  While there she enjoyed golf, bridge, square dancing, boating, crafts, and collecting sea shells.

In 2009 they moved to Traverse City to be closer to their daughter.  After living in Traverse City for seven years they moved to Bellaire and  lived with their daughter for two years before moving into the Heritage Haus.

Eloise was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, and three brothers.  She is survived by her three children, Marcia (John) Copeland, Bellaire; Kenneth (Kathy) Reim, St. Augustine, Fla.; and Thomas Reim, South Bend, Ind.  Also surviving are five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Eloise was a very caring and easy going person and made many friends along her path of life whom she continued to keep in contact with.

Private interment will take place at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.  Local arrangements are in the care of the Bellaire Mortensen Funeral Home.
