Elks sweep Manton on road
MANTON — Rain quickly ended a scheduled doubleheader at home against Glen Lake in on Wednesday, April 17, wiping out a 3-0 Elk Rapids lead after two innings of play.
The Elks then traveled to Manton on Friday for a non-conference doubleheader, nine days after they had played their season opener in Petoskey. The Elks came ready to play, earning a sweep over the Rangers, winning the opener 3-1 and taking the nightcap 10-6.
In game one, Josh Vandeveer stroked a two-RBI double in fourth inning, breaking open a scoreless tie. Manton countered with a run in their half on the fourth but would not score again.
