Elks advance to soccer district final

ELK RAPIDS — Elk Rapids’ quest for a fourth straight girls soccer district title took a step closer as the Elks defeated Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian 8-0 in a Division 4 semifinal game played Tuesday. Seven minutes into the game Annabelle Parrish scored the first goal, followed by goals from Olivia Travis with two, Kendall Brown, Adrian Noecker, Jenna Greene, Aleah Manley and the final goal from Frannie Klein. The Elks outshot the Eagles 21-0 in the mercy win.

Drew Antcliff had a quiet night with zero saves in goal.

The Elks opened district play with a 4-1 win over Glen Lake on Wednesday May 22. Jenna Wilkinson and Brown had first-half goals, for a 2-0 halftime lead. In the second half, Mary Gregorski scored with 16 minutes to play to increase the lead. The shutout ended as the Lakers scored on a penalty kick, but Travis sealed the win with a late goal. Antcliff tallied four saves.
