Eagles start season with big win over Blazers
BELLAIRE — Brad Fischer scheduled Bellaire’s girls basketball season opener against Kalkaska on Thursday, Dec. 6 as a way to challenge his team right off the bat.
Fischer’s squad got the challenge their coach was looking for and added a win to boot as the Eagles beat the Blazers 41-29.
Bellaire (1-0) pulled away late in the third quarter of a game that had been back and forth for the first 20 minutes, with five ties and two lead changes. Holding a 21-19 edge midway through the third quarter, Bellaire outscored the Blazers 9-4 over the rest of the period, then scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter to break the contest open.
