Crafts to oversee Community Resource Development group

Elise Crafts

MANCELONA – Elise Crafts has been appointed to the position of coordinator for the Mancelona Community Resource Development (CRD) organization. The CRD is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit dedicated to implementing plans created through public participation for community and economic development.

“As one of the few organizations of its kind in northern Michigan, we have established our game plan by listening to what the people of Mancelona Township and the Village of Mancelona want and consider high priority,” said Mike Allison, chair of the CRD Board and village president. “We are fortunate that Elise Crafts was instrumental in helping us though many of those plans and strategies and will now serve as our coordinator for helping to convert those plans into action.”

With a master’s degree in Community Development from Western Michigan University, Crafts has served as a township zoning administrator, real estate development consultant and community planner. She founded Statecraft in 2018 to merge these three disciplines and help communities champion accessible and constructive community partnerships, policies and development.

Crafts will work under contract with the CRD to coordinate efforts involving economic development and job creation; blight remediation and housing; ordinance development based upon a joint master plan now being completed; recreation and trail development; and food marketing systems.
