Commitment and dedication made the difference in 2019

REGION — Whenever you hear about a really good deed done in a small local region like Antrim County, you can be sure that somewhere in there someone with more than the average share of commitment and dedication, and a true concern for their community, was involved. For the 11th year in a row, that was the case once again this year when it came to consideration of The Antrim Review's selection of six people who "Made A Difference". But not all is wine and roses in our picturesque little corner of the world, with the demise of two longtime civic organizations that once did much to improve our world.

We will miss the good work of the Bellaire Lions and the Central Lake Masonic Lodge, to be sure.

With the demands of a modern world, volunteerism as a whole is threatened everywhere, but especially in northern Michigan, where great community efforts are inevitably made by a smaller, and older population. So it is that much more important that we thank and appreciate those who give and keep on giving.
