Commissioners create Parks Director position

BELLAIRE — More than five years after considering a report making the recommendation, the Antrim County Board of Commissioners formerly approved a motion to create a Parks Director position during the Commissioner's virtual meeting on Thursday, Feb. 4.

The idea of resurrecting the position occurred with the retirement last month of long time Barnes Park manager Eileen Wallick after more than 40 years of service to the county, according to Antrim County Administrator Peter Garwood. 

"I saw Eileen's retirement as an opportunity to reorganize our parks system," said Garwood, adding that there had been "lots of discussion" on the matter in the past.
