CL Schools cut principal, look to trim future budget
CENTRAL LAKE – Facing what school board president Greg Shooks called a “bleak financial future,” the Central Lake Board of Education voted unanimously on April 10 to eliminate high school and elementary principal Shelly Derenzy’s position from the budget for the 2017/2018 school year.
“We can no longer support a principal,” said Shooks last week. “It’s very unfortunate, and we hate to lose her, but we just can’t afford her any longer.
“Sadly, that won’t cure the problem,” he continued. “We are still reviewing our options, and looking at everything very closely.”
