Cardboard classic at Springfield Twp. Park set for Jan. 27

Last year a record 70 entries participated in the fifth annual Cardboard Classic. From elaborate race cars to simple cardboard boxes, all raced down Carly’s Hill during the winter celebration at the park located near the intersection of Lund and Creighton roads.

FIFE LAKE – As packages are delivered and Christmas presents opened for the holidays, local residents might want to think twice before throwing away some of those large cardboard boxes.

After all, with a little imagination and some duct tape, those boxes could be the start of a winning entry in the upcoming Carly’s Hill Snow Fun Day Cardboard Classic. The sixth annual Cardboard Classic is set for Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Springfield Township Park & Recreation Area in southern Kalkaska County.

In January, a record 70 entries participated in the fifth annual Cardboard Classic. From elaborate race cars to simple cardboard boxes, all raced down Carly’s Hill during the winter celebration at the park located near the intersection of Lund and Creighton roads.
