BOC sends HR plan back to committee
BELLAIRE – Antrim County’s Board of Commissioners weren’t sure last month if they needed a human resource department or director so they authorized board chair Ed Boettcher to set up an ad hoc committee to study the issue, review options and report back to the board.
The committee held several meetings over the last month and did just that – along with offering a recommendation. However, Commissioners brought up several key questions during the board’s regular meeting last Thursday, Feb. 8 and ultimately sent the recommendation back to the committee.
Committee members appointed by Boettcher last month included: commissioners Scott Kruger (chair), Melissa Zelenak and Christian Marcus, along with county administrator Pete Garwood, county clerk Sheryl Guy and county treasurer Sherry Comben. Department heads were also encouraged to add input during meetings
Prior to last Thursday’s decision sending it back to committee, Kruger relayed that the group’s recommendation was for the county to hire a human resources director, who would report to county administrator Pete Garwood.
