Bellaire beats Central Lake for first boys basketball win
BELLAIRE — When Central Lake and Bellaire met on the basketball court on Thursday it was a battle between boys teams hungry for their first win.
The Eagles (1-5, 1-5 SVC) were able to snap that winless drought with a 55-51 win over the Trojans (0-8, 0-6) in a hard fought rivalry contest.
In a see-saw matchup, Bellaire led 8-7 after the first quarter and Central Lake went ahead 22-19 at the half. Bellaire reclaimed the lead with an extraordinary third quarter where it outscored the Trojans 23-12 to hold a 42-34 advantage, then held off a late Central Lake charge down the stretch.
