Area mourns passing of longtime county clerk
BELLAIRE - Tributes poured in from everywhere with the news last Friday, May 4, that longtime Antrim County Clerk Laura Sexton had passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

First elected to the office in 1981, Sexton successfully led the county into the 21st century, helping to make the transition from hard copy and micro-filmed files to electronic files, guiding the county through three apportionment processes, and supervising numerous elections – including more than a few controversial recalls – doing it all with expediency and grace, a droll sense of humor, and always a bright smile, as well as under budget.
