Agencies partner for ‘No Shave November’ fundraiser
KALKASKA – Local officials from a plethora of village and county agencies are working together to help make winter warmer for those in need. And, they’re doing it by not shaving.
That’s right. The Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Department is partnering with the village’s Kalkaska Department of Public Safety, Kalkaska Department of Public Works, Kalkaska district and probate courts, Kalkaska County Treasurer’s Office, Kalkaska County Clerk’s Office and Kalkaska County Register of Deed’s Office to raise money to purchase winter wear for county students in need.
Sgt. Aaron Popa showed off his stubble at the Kalkaska Village Council’s regular meeting Nov. 5 to announce the effort.
The sheriff’s department, our department, and other county offices, have teamed together,” Popa said.
The joint fundraiser includes a “No Shave November,” and possibly December, with the participating agencies also allowing a “hair down” policy for uniformed divisions and a “wear jeans to work” for the administrative positions.
“What we are doing is each of us is paying $30 into this fund,” Popa said. “We’re doing this as a group.
“It’s a bonding; we’re in this together thing.”
