A ‘spectacular’ cherry season
CENTRAL LAKE — ‘Spectacular’ is how Jack King of King Orchards is describing this year's sweet cherry crop in Antrim County.
"It's a huge crop," King went on to say. "All of our sweet cherry trees are loaded — the branches are bending right down to the ground because they are so loaded with fruit."
Preferred as table cherries and in ice cream, this year's ripening sweet cherries, although almost two weeks late, are particularly sweet, if a bit smaller than usual, due to the recent hot and dry weather, King said.
