‘Options galore’ for Bellaire girls basketball team

BELLAIRE — What the Bellaire girls basketball team lacks in superstars, the Eagles make up for with unmatched depth.

The Eagles boast a roster of 10 players, with each capable of contributing at high levels. That will allow head coach Brad Fischer to freely rotate players and keep them fresh, while not losing anything when he looks to the bench to find a sub.

“There’s not a clear drop off,” said Fischer. “I think this year, on paper, is arguably one of the most talented teams. Now it’s my job to get them to play together, which I know they will. A lot of scorers, so somebody is going to have to sacrifice. We’re all going to sacrifice for the betterment of the team. The biggest issue will be determining the starting five because it could go a million different directions. It’s a good problem to have. It’s going to be my most stressful job. It will be earned in practice through effort, communication and commitment. Then we’ll be free subbing, as long as I can trust them.”
